Apple class assembly

Apple class showed their assembly to parents and the rest of year 3 today and they did amazingly well!

We based our assembly on China and showed what we had learned throughout the topic, showing our Willow Plates that we painted, reading a line from our Mulan writing and performing a Lion Dance that we learned in music. Those were just a few of the things that we learned during our China topic!

We also sang a song from Mulan called ‘I’ll make a man out of you’ which the children really enjoyed!

We hope you enjoyed watching our assembly! I am very proud of all the children for their hard work and dedication to making our assembly amazing!

Apple and Ash trip to the Cutty Sark

On Wednesday 4th May, Apple and Ash set off on their adventure to the Cutty Sark in Greenwich! We traveled to Becontree and got two trains to arrive at the Cutty Sark station.

When we got there, we were able to look around the amazing tea clipper and work out why it was related to our topic of China. The children soon realised that the Cutty Sark was one of the fastest boats to bring tea to England from China!

The children were then immersed in life on board, acting out different weather scenarios and the final tea race back to England. It was an amazing day with beautiful, fine sailing weather! Enjoy the pictures!

Year 3 team

Egyptian Day!

This half term, year 3 are studying the Ancient Egyptians, so we thought what better way to learn about them than to live a day as an Egyptian?

The children learned how the Ancient Egyptians used hieroglyphics as their alphabet and tried to create their own coded messages!

We then split the year group into 4, mixed classes groups so that we could deliver 4 different Ancient Egyptian activities. We made canopic jars out of clay, Egyptian headdresses for a sarcophagus, hieroglyphic tablets and mummified an apple using salt, baking powder and tissue!

During the afternoon, the children were able to go into each room and see what had been made and why the Ancient Egyptians did this. We then learned a dance ‘Walk Like an Egyptian’ at the end of the day and performed to Mr Buckingham!

There were some amazing costumes worn by children and staff! Here are some pictures of the day, can you spot yourself and your friends?
