On Thursday 7th July, Year 4 went to Barking Abbey to take part in a borough sports competition against Becontree Primary School.
The year group were split into 12 teams and every child participated in 6 different sports; dodgeball, judo, football, boccia (a Paralympic sport), athletics and a Change for Life event.
The focus of the day was on team spirit, with each team making up a team name and chant. Points were awarded to the teams cheering the loudest. DBJA did an great job of cheering on all of their team mates and displayed excellent sportsmanship.
At the end of the day, each child received a medal to demonstrate their fantastic participation. Well done Year 4!
As part of our history topic ‘Crime and Punishment’
Banyan and Beech in year 4 visited the Tower of London.
We began by taking the train….
We took part in a Crime and Punishment workshop….
We ate our lunch within the splendid grounds…..
We sat in the Tower and thought about what life was like for the prisoners. Can you tell how they were feeling by the expressions on our faces?
Can you guess the name of the bridge in the background?
We really enjoyed our visit!!!!
We have been learning how to solve practical maths problems….
In order to be successful we were required to:
Use tone to engage the audience
Read with appropriate pace
Use actions to engage the audience
Take a look at our ‘freeze frames’…….
We worked in groups identifying the correct operation, writing the calculation and then solving the word problem.
